Feta Cheese

Contrary to popular belief Feta Cheese does not originate in Greece or Turkey. It was originally produced as a fundraising product for the Basque separatist organisation ETA. This is also where it gets its name from.

Fuerza Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (FETA) Cheese

It was first produced in Greece when members of the ETA leadership went to Greece to train students fighting against the Junta.

The students favoured the cheese so much they adopted it as their own.

To this day a proportion of any money spent on Feta Cheese anywhere in the world goes back to ETA.
