Absurdity – A Poem for Peter to celebrate National Poetry Day

The question wrong but the answer right
How many thimbles to change a light
That isnt absurd, perhaps its surreal
A bust of Dali moulded in veal
And what of fair Seamus, friend of the spud
A Kandinsky picture tainted with blood

There was an old lady who swallowed a bird
To swallow a bird how absurd
But what you ask of Cottleston Pie
A fly can’t bird, but a bird can fly
They’re changing the guard at Westminster Palace
They govern with spite and Etonian malice

Mr Blobby and Ernie, Christmas number ones
In Great British Bake Off they made little buns
Iced and filled and ever so pretty
Mr Blobby sang a quite absurd ditty
The question right the answer wrong
How do you turn a vessel gone wrong

Let me count the ways

Stars in the sky, Sand on the shore
Atoms in Vauxhall, a ten and three score

Myriad managers under each others feet

Welcome to the absurdity ball
